Make a Difference/Get Involved
Volunteer:
Get a Mohawk and raise money for a breast cancer cure. It's easy, exciting and fun. Best of all, you get to be a rebel for a day, or week, or month. And when the thrill is gone, cut it off, grown your hair back, and do it all over again next year!
Tell your friends, family and coworkers to pledge money to entice you to get a Mohawk. Set a goal – say, $500 – and tell them if you reach that goal, or higher, you will cut off your hair into a Mohawk! It's amazing how quickly people will donate to see you bravely give your hair to help women with breast cancer.
Donate:
Tax-deductible donations are welcome – and needed – to help find a cure for breast cancer. Either mail in your donation or give your gift online. You can even credit your donation in honor of your favorite Mohawk!
If you are donating online, be sure to indicate that you would like to designate your donation to the Hawk-A-Thon. To do this, choose "Hawk-A-Thon: Mohawks for a Breast Cancer Cure" in the gift designation drop down menu. In the comments box be sure to state the brave person's name that you are donating in support of.
All donations in connection to the Hawk-A-Thon will benefit the Oregon Health & Science University Cancer Institute, one of 61 designated centers of the National Cancer Institute. The Institute's researchers, physicians and nurses are focused on translating discoveries into better ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer. To learn more about the progress in breast cancer research and care at OHSU, please call (503) 494-7071.
Donations are fully tax-deductible to the extent allowed by the law. Donations will be acknowledged with a receipt for tax purposes. OHSU Cancer Institute is a part of the OHSU Foundation, a nonprofit organization.
